As the legal arm of The Public Policy Institute of New York State, Inc. we will challenge federal, state and local government regulatory overreach and unconstitutional legislation. The New York Business Defense Fund will work to ensure the legislative climate promotes economic growth for New York businesses.
In the last 20 years New York has become one of the most expensive places to live, work and run a business. In that time, New York has raised taxes, created a culture of out of control state spending, increased regulatory burdens, and stood by as thousands of New York businesses have closed, moved out of state or endured economic hardships that have forced them to reduce their investment in our economy and eliminate private-sector jobs.
The Public Policy Institute of New York State, Inc. is a research and educational organization whose purpose is to formulate and promote public policies that will restore New York's economic competitiveness. The Institute accomplishes this mission by conducting timely, in-depth research addressing key state policy issues. Founded in 1981 and affiliated with The Business Council of New York State, Inc., The Institute is a non-partisan, tax-exempt, 501 (c) (3) organization. The Institute depends on the support of corporations, individuals, and foundations for its income, and does not accept any government funding.
For far too long, costly taxes, fees, and burdensome regulatory mandates have made New York State less competitive. The resulting effect has been the loss of businesses and jobs to other states, a smaller workforce, and a lack of business growth opportunities.
New York State needs to reverse this trend and become a more businesses-friendly state.
